Attacking the Establishment

By Richard C. Barton

I’m currently working on my upcoming book, Attacking the Establishment, which explores how ideological insurgents are reshaping American politics by challenging national party establishments through primary elections. Drawing from original datasets, case studies, and public opinion surveys, this book explains the causes and consequences of this insurgency and how it fuels polarization and legislative dysfunction. Combining academic rigor with accessible language, this project aims to reach scholars, reform advocates, and engaged citizens alike. The manuscript is in development and slated for completion in early 2025.
